Innovative solutions in Power Engineering and Software Development

About Me

Hey, I'm David. By day I'm a power engineer with over 15 years in the industry - designing, building, commissioning, and maintaining power systems. By night (and most weekends) I build software, games, and websites. I have formal qualifications in power engineering, mathematics, and physics, which probably explains why half my projects involve physics simulations.

I got into software development because I kept having ideas for things I wanted to build but couldn't find off the shelf. That started with tools and simulations, then snowballed into games, apps, and websites. Power Network Tycoon is probably the best example of where both worlds collide. It uses real electrical physics calculations to drive the gameplay, which you don't exactly see in a lot of city builders.

These days I split my time between power engineering, game development, and building web projects. I like making things that are technically interesting but also genuinely useful or fun to use. Whether that is a power grid simulator, a gift recommendation engine, or a tool that reads your clipboard out loud in another language. If it is something I would use myself, I will probably build it.

My Expertise

Power Engineering

Over 15 years working in power system analysis, design, construction, and operations. I enjoy finding ways to modernise how things are done in the industry, whether that is through better tools, automation, or just smarter processes.

Game Development

Building games in Unity, Godot, and Unreal Engine with a focus on physics-based simulations and gameplay that actually means something. I like making games where you learn something without realising it, and where the mechanics are grounded in real science rather than just made up numbers.

App Development

Building cross-platform applications using languages like C# and Python. Experience in creating a variety of business and small tools for niche usecases and businesses.

Featured Project

Power Network Tycoon

Power Network Tycoon

A physics-based Power Engineering City Builder game that challenges players to create and manage complex power networks while balancing economic and environmental factors. This game combines real-world power system principles with engaging gameplay, offering both entertainment and educational value.
